The Unquestioning Faith of a Child P. 2

The Dress:

Complex and delicate, a vintage dress was chosen as a central element for the dual (mother/daughter) tones of orange/pink, silk shot fabric, a cultural reference to the 1960’s and characteristic of the strident colours my mother was attracted to; bright blues, vivid greens, all resplendent with spots, stripes and frills. Beaded in Grade 1 Braille’ the dress embodies a short paragraph of text translated directly from a dream (unchanged). Coincidentally the text covers the dress complete both front and back. The Victorian filigree cell’s which form the dress pattern are outlined with Japanese Seed beads and contain a unique position for each Braille letter.

Grade 1 Braille:

Consists of the 26 standard letters of the alphabet and punctuation. It is only used by people who are first starting to read Braille.
