Tools for Life

Pilgrimage to Imago (Journey to the Mother/’Self’/Fly) is an open, ongoing project comprising 26+ stages, beginning with the original 13 in Australia and continuing with 13 in the UK. These stages collectively explore the formation of a symbolic, idealized primordial mother figure within a strong psychoanalytic framework.

Through various media, each imagined stage manifests as an ‘asset’, an object conceived as a ‘Tool for Life’. While non-functional in a conventional sense, these assets engage with both conscious and unconscious brain patterns. They bring attention to forms of knowledge that support and embody the ongoing memory of an ever-present past.
